Dr. Robert Peltier is a distinguished physician leader with over two decades of experience in internal medicine and healthcare administration. As Chief Medical Officer at North Oaks Health System in Hammond, Louisiana, Dr. Peltier has been instrumental in advancing clinical excellence, quality improvement, and patient-centered care since 2007.
A board-certified internist, Dr. Peltier earned his medical degree from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his residency in Internal Medicine in Baton Rouge. He also holds a diploma in Clinical Tropical Medicine from the renowned Gorgas Course in Lima, Peru.
Dr. Peltier’s leadership extends beyond the hospital walls. He serves on numerous boards and committees, including the Louisiana Hospital Association’s Chief Medical Officer Roundtable and Finance & Oversight Committee. His commitment to education is evident through his faculty roles at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and Southeastern Louisiana University.
Recognized for his contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Peltier received the International Hospital Federation’s “Beyond the Call of Duty” award and was named the American College of Healthcare Executives’ Physician Champion of the Year in 2022.
A passionate advocate for community health, Dr. Peltier is a frequent speaker at civic events, a medical director for the City of Hammond Juvenile Drug Court Clinic, and has been featured on CNN discussing public health initiatives.
