Eligibility Criteria for Initial and Ongoing Certification
The certification application is used to determine whether a candidate meets the requirements to move forward in the process.
Bachelor's Degree or Higher
Field: Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or a related healthcare field.
Experience: At least 3 years in healthcare, with at least 3,000 hours in healthcare risk-related management, quality improvement, compliance, workplace safety, organizational safety, or patient safety in the past 3 years.

Associate's Degree or Equivalent
Experience: At least 5 years in the healthcare setting or with a provider of healthcare services and at least 3,000 hours of work in healthcare risk management, quality improvement, compliance, workplace safety, organizational safety, or patient safety in the past 3 years.

Maintenance of Certification Requirements
Certification maintenance is required every 3 years.
Continuing Education
CE: 30 hours of continuing education (CE) in healthcare risk management and 15 hours of CE in another area prior to the certification expirationdate. Total of 45 CE in 3 years.
Re-certification is done via an attestation process. However, participants may be required to submit proof of completed CE courses. Verification of CE completion will be done on a random sample of recertification candidates annually.
LHA Trust Fund, in-person and virtual education events that apply for nursing CE will also apply toward the fulfillment of CE hours of this certification. CE opportunities include attending conferences, webinars, and workshops, as well as participating in healthcare risk management training and education.
